Educational services offered by Danish museums to be charted

The Heritage Agency of Denmark would like to chart the scope and quality of the educational services provided by all the state museums in Denmark. This survey should bring into focus the potential of the museums as knowledge centres and educational environments.

The first stage in the survey is a questionnaire about the museums’ current educational activities. Danish museums have an old tradition of offering professional and research-based knowledge to a broad audience, including special services offered to educational institutions. Today there is no estimate of the scope and quality of the educational services provided by the museums. This is something that the survey should reveal.

The survey is a part of the Ministry of Culture’s dissemination plan that should assess and enhance the process of information dissemination in the Danish museums. The ambition is to encourage the collective responsibility of the museums for providing an access to and spreading information about cultural heritage among all the Danish citizens irrespective of their age and background.
