Geenlandic children at the Norbusang Choir Festival in Drøbak

In April, the choir 'Meeqat Erinarsoqatigiit Ikinngutaat' from Nuuk in Greenland took part in the nineteenth Norbusang Festival in Drøbak. Sixteen children, aged from 9 to 14, travelled with their directors to Norway and sang together with 530 children from 24 choirs from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland.

NORBUSANG

NORBUSANG organises an annual Nordic child and youth choir festival. Each year the festival takes place in a different Nordic country. The first Norbusang festival was held twenty years ago, in 1987, in Drøbak, Norway.

NORBUSAM (the Nordic child and youth choir association)

The Nordic child and youth choir association, NORBUSAM, is made up of choir organisations of the Nordic countries. NORBUSAM's main event is the yearly choir festival Norbusang where children and young people from all the Nordic countries can meet and enjoy musical community for a couple of days.

NORBUSAM has three main goals:

•To establish contacts between young choir members and directors throughout the Nordic region. In particular this is achieved by means of NORBUSANG, the yearly festival.
•To work towards the exchange of repertoires between the countries as well as putting efforts into creating new Nordic child and youth choir repertoires.
•To convey knowledge and experience in order to further conscious development within the field, both musically and pedagogically.

The mission of DUNK is to promote the musical, social and cultural development of children and young people by means of supporting and developing children's and youth music in the Swedish speaking parts of Finland. DUNK is to function as a link that connects the Finnish-Swedish children's and youth music groups.
