Storm (Myrsky) – cultural project for exposed young people in Finland

Young people have lots of energy and vigour. This thought serves as the point of departure in the culture and arts project that offers new and meaningful contents of life to exposed young people. The Finnish Cultural Foundation (Suomen Kulttuurirahasto) is supporting nine new projects all over Finland.

Storm is trying to reach young people who are losing their grip on life and whose treatment by means of the existing traditional methods have failed. The project addresses young people who are facing mental or drug problems, violence or have a criminal background or who have close relatives exposed to such problems.

Storm offers concrete tasks based on culture and art of high quality. The projects are interdisciplinary; dance, photography and theatre are the most often used forms of art. The young people are playing the main role, whereas the professional artists and other adults try to contribute with their competence; and by means of an extensive cultural concept the adults try to create a framework for the project.
