Swedish Arts Council gives priority to theatre for children and young people
In January, the Swedish Arts Council allocated more than 50 million SEK of production subsidies to independent theatre companies. 71 independent theatre companies will get production subsidy for the financial year 2008. The Swedish Art Council gives priority to theatre companies which address children and young people.
The Swedish Arts Council allocates subsidies of 100 000 - 200 000 SEK. The Council has chosen to give priority to theatre companies that offer performances to children and young people and that tour outside the metropolitan districts.
Bigger subsidies will be granted to, inter alia, Robinson Crusoe & Fredags vänner and Teater Barbara. More than half of the supported companies aim their activities mainly at children and young people, which means over 30 million SEK in terms of money. A list of all the allocated subsidies is available on the Swedish Arts Council’s website.
