Globalskolen – a schooling opportunity for Norwegian children abroad

If you are a Norwegian pupil and for a shorter or longer time are living abroad you can receive education based on Norwegian curricula and textbooks via Internet. Globalskolen ('The Global School') is a distance education in the framework of Norsk Nettskole ('The Norwegian Net School').

Globalskolen offers education in three subjects included in the programme 'Supplementary education for children abroad': Norwegian, social science studies and Christianity & religion for  1st – 10th-formers. They can also choose Norwegian as second language and mathematics in some of the forms.

Globalskolen follows official curricula of the Norwegian basic school. The newest Norwegian curriculum 'Kunnskapsløftet' ('The Knowledge Promotion') has been introduced to all the levels starting with the school year 2006/2007. All the pupils receive individual feedback on their homework from highly qualified teachers. The education in the elementary school is based on instructing the parents too.
