Yo!BaNa – a Nordic Baltic culture initiative in Åland

Nordic Institute in Åland (NIPÅ) is proud to be part of the three year long EU funded project Yo!BaNa - Young Baltic Narratives. Yo!BaNa is a joint Nordic – Baltic culture initiative that opens new doors to creativity and contents of life for young inhabitants of archipelagos in the Baltic Sea area by means of stories recorded on film. Other participants are archipelago schools in the county of Stockholm, in Gotland, the Turku archipelago and the Estonian islands.

The project is aimed at strengthening moving pictures as a means of expression among young inhabitants of archipelagos and improving media competence among teachers. One of the tasks of the project is creating new forums: regular festivals, summer camps and virtual meeting places with the aim of developing film-making by young people across national borders and when the project is finished.

The three year long project is partly funded by EU's initiative  Central Baltic INTERREG IV A Program 2007-2013, Archipelago and Islands.
