EAR-ly 2010 - First Nordic Young Early Music Ensemble Competition
EAR-ly 2010 is the first competition for young early music ensembles in the Nordic countries, and the second on a national level in Sweden. Here early music is defined as repertoire from antiquity until the end of the 18th century.
NORDEM – Nordic Early Music Federation - sees EAR-ly 2010 as a way of encouraging the formation of new early music ensembles and of stimulating interest in the genre among music students throughout the Nordic countries.
The aim is to arrange EAR-ly in a different Nordic country annually or bi-annually.
NORDEM’s member festivals will take it in turns to host the competition.
Selection of competition entries to EAR-ly will occur in two stages: the first stage when participants submit their recordings and a final round which will be held on the 10th of June 2010 where 3 selected ensembles will take part in a public concert.
The decisive selection criteria are: quality consciousness, knowledge of style, authenticity and, in the final round, artistry.
