Danish museums win high praise abroad

Museums abroad are very enthusiastic about the way the Danish museums work with basic and primary & lover secondary schools. They were so enthusiastic that they asked the Heritage Agency of Denmark to produce English and Spanish translations of the two newly published brochures that describe the good examples of the Danish museums' educational work.

The challenge to publish the brochures in the two main languages was voiced at Intercom's (which is an international organisation for management of museums) annual conference in Torréon in Mexico. The representatives of the 22 Intercom countries praised Denmark for its pioneer work which was described in the two publications.

The publications 'God praksis – eksempler på museernes undervisning til grundskoler og ungdomsuddannelser' ('Good practice – examples of educational activities offered by the Danish museums to basic and primary & lover secondary schools') and 'Museernes læringspotentialer – kortlægning af museernes undervisningsaktiviteter til grundskoler og ungdomsuddannelser' ('The educational potential of the  museums – a survey of  the educational activities offered by the Danish museums to basic and primary & lover secondary schools')  constitute a part of the Ministry of Culture's promotion plan for 2007-10 for the museums that are owned or approved by the State.

The two brochures are available on the homepage of the Heritage Agency of Denmark, in Danish
